Wetlands
Forum in April was a success, marked by good public interest, with
information being shared by the Rivers & Mountains Conservancy, Coastal
Conservancy, City LB, Parks, Los Cerritos Land Trust, Friends of
Colorado Lagoon. Many people wanted to know about Los Cerritos wetlands
and the current status of the proposed Home Depot project (it
and the Shopkeeper/Studebaker four lane road are under review by the
Coastal Commission; will come before the commission in coming months, to

Long Beach City Council requested a report from staff of a wetlands
inventory for all wetlands in Long Beach, for information on the

Streams, Lakes, Ponds & Wetlands Task Force has scheduled future
meetings for June 14 and August 16 at 4:30 PM, for more information

In addition, at press time, an appeal of the LB Planning Commission
approval of the Lennar project (Seaport Marina Hotel site) is scheduled
for a hearing before the City Council. Also, a plan to revise SEADIP is
under public scrutiny (established around 1977 as a vital part of the
Long Beach
Local Coastal Plan); there was a study session for the Planning
Commission in April, it is scheduled to go to the City Council June 5.
