Birdathon

Photo 2

El Dorado Audubon is a participant in the National Audubon Society's Annual Birdathon. The Birdathon is a fund raiser that is held during one month of the year, usually April or May when there is much bird activity.

Participants in our Birdathon go out either as individuals, or with others as a team, and identify as many different species as possible within a 24 hour period. Prior to this date they will get friends and relatives to sponsor them for a certain amount per species, or if they prefer, a pledge for a set amount.

Half of the funds go to National or State Audubon projects and half stays in the chapter to be used for such projects as Audubon Adventures, wetland restoration, or for some project that would otherwise be impossible because of lack of funds.

As a participant in the Birdathon, you will have fun locating and identifying birds (you may see that long sought after life bird), and there is also the joy of knowing that you have helped in furthering both state and local Audubon goals. For more information on the El Dorado Audubon Birdathon you may contact any Board Member.  If you wish to make a donation, you may do so by sending a check payable to "El Dorado Audubon" (clearly marked "Birdathon") and mail to P. O. Box 90713, Long Beach, CA 90809.
