Here is a listing of some of our favorite web sites.
Check back as we add more sites.
- eBird - eBird is an on-line checklist project where you can enter and store your bird observations in a central database, track your personal records, and share your observations with other birders and scientists.
- Starr Ranch - Starr Ranch is a 4,000 acre Audubon California sanctuary in southeast Orange County, California. Our mission is to offer innovative approaches to land management and environmental education that will influence the way Orange County citizens appreciate, conserve, and manage wildlands. We seek to instill a love of nature through education programs that involve people of all ages in wildlife research and to provide a model of rigorous, sustainable land management through applied research.
- The International Bird Rescue Center - The International Bird Rescue Research Center (IBRRC) has been helping birds around the world since 1971. Its mission is to mitigate human impact on aquatic birds and other wildlife. This is achieved through rehabilitation, emergency response, education, research, planning and training.
- This Birding Life Podcast - Got an Mp3 player? Why don't you give a listen to this podcast. "This Birding Life is a podcast from the folks at Bird Watcher's Digest. And like the magazine's content, the topics covered by This Birding Life range far and wide -- from the backyard to the tropics, from bird feeding to bird chasing, from authors reading from their books to birders talking about their "spark" bird."
- Los Angeles County Rare Bird Alerts Yahoo Group - Suggested topics are bird sightings, status and distribution, birding locations, and non-commercial announcements from birding organizations. You are welcome to use the Photos area to share photos to discuss identification, and the Files area to share other relevant information.
- California Parrot Project - The California Parrot Project was born from the recognition that parrots are now an important component of our urban avifaunas in many parts of the state, and the populations they have established are deserving of monitoring and in-depth ecological study. The first step in monitoring is accurate identification, so we provide hints on distinguishing the genera and species in the field. We also present basic information on distribution, habitat use, and population sizes, but we are fully aware that (with your help) we will continually refine and augment this information.
- Long Beach Natural Areas - A local naturalists' blog regarding natural areas of Long Beach.
