El Dorado Audubon began in 1969 as a chapter of the National Audubon Society. Its name came from the regional park and Nature Center in East Long Beach, El Dorado Park that serves the surrounding communities. It is a non-profit organization and each chapter has its own budget and programs, plus all of the resources and support available through National Audubon and California Audubon.
The mission of the El Dorado Audubon Society is the conservation of native birds and their habitats. The society provides leadership in conservation and educates its members and the community, so that they may appreciate birds and participate in the society’s conservation efforts.
