Leader: Mary Parsell
This is a new regular walk held in the late afternoon/early evening every 4th Sunday of the month.
Zedler Marsh is a recently restored area with established trails, benches, a salt marsh and coastal sage scrub habitat. One of two chances each month to bird on the wetlands property, currently accessible only by docent led walks. This small tidal marsh off the San Gabriel River is a good place to look for herons, egrets, shorebirds, Belding’s Savannah Sparrow, raptors, hummingbirds, and a variety of birds typical of coastal sage scrub habitat. Help us document the avian species of this Audubon Important Bird Area (IBA), no prior birding experience necessary.
Meet at PCH and First Street, border of Seal Beach/Long Beach. Turn inland, park off asphalt. Bring binoculars if you have them, water, hat and sunscreen. Closed-toed shoes required.
