Tony Baker – Native Plant Society Chair
If thoughts of spring gardening are flying around in your head then you want to be sure to mark your calendar and attend February’s general meeting. Our guest speaker for February, Tony Baker, is Horticulture Chair for the South Coast Chapter of the California Native Plant Society which includes the Long Beach area, and a member of Palos Verdes/South Bay Audubon Society. His program will focus on using California native plants in residential gardens in order to attract birds and other wildlife. He has been a native plant landscaper for many years (now retired) and has installed many gardens in the South Bay area as well as Long Beach. He has worked on native plant demonstration gardens at Madrona Marsh Nature Center in Torrance and White Point Preserve in San Pedro, as well as several restoration projects.
We meet at the Nature Center 7550 E. Spring Street, Long Beach 90815, doors open at 7:00 PM; parking is free; we accept cans and plastic bottle (caps off) for recycling to help support our chapter.
