Nature Centers and California Chaparral
with Richard Halsey, Director of CCI
Nature Centers play a critical role in helping people reconnect to local nature. Richard Halsey, Director of the California Chaparral Institute, visited all the nature centers in Southern California to see how they not only inspired the public to enjoy the natural environment, but also how they interpreted the chaparral, California’s most extensive ecosystem. One of the key observations concerning the success of a nature center was the passion the staff and volunteers exhibited.
Please join us as we take a tour of our region’s gateways to nature, explore successful methods of interpretation, and meet inspiring naturalists who have spent a lifetime fostering new generations of nature advocates willing to engage with their local communities to protect their local, natural environment.
